Hiya!  My name is Julie. I’m a chaplain, spiritual director, grief group facilitator, and retreat leader. I’m a mom to two grown children, grand of three, and live just outside of Chicago with my husband and golden retriever, Poppy.

This blog came into being because of a casual conversation I had with my sister one day as we sat in her garden.  Looking at the multitude of layers of growth out her back door it dawned on me that we each have–what the nursery folks call–an  understory–those things below or above the surface that informs who we are and our our spiritual story.

What is it that nourishes, attracts, yields growth?

Both Franciscan and Ignatian spirituality continue to shape my way of seeing the world. Finding God in the everyday experiences of life is my journey.
